  • Hearing Aids

    Small electronic devices designed to amplify sound and improve auditory perception for individuals with hearing loss. These assistive devices come in various types and styles, providing customized solutions to enhance communication and participation in daily activities.

  • Heart

    A muscular organ that pumps blood throughout the cardiovascular system, supplying oxygen and nutrients to the body's tissues.

  • Heat-Related Illness

    Includes conditions caused by too much heat, ranging from mild issues like cramps and exhaustion to severe, life-threatening heat stroke.

  • Heat Stress

    Occurs when the body's cooling mechanisms are overwhelmed by high temperatures and may lead to heat-related illness.

  • Heat Stroke

    A life-threatening condition that occurs when your body overheats and can’t cool down, often from extreme heat or intense physical activity. Symptoms like confusion, dizziness, dry skin, and fainting require immediate cooling and medical attention.

  • Helmets

    Protective headgear designed to reduce the risk of head injuries during activities such as cycling, motorcycling, or sports. Wearing helmets is a key safety measure to prevent head trauma and minimize the impact of accidents or falls.

  • Homeostasis

    The body’s ability to maintain a stable internal environment despite changes in the external environment. It involves regulating factors like temperature, blood pressure, pH levels, and glucose levels to ensure the body functions properly.

  • Hospitals

    Healthcare facilities that are equipped to provide medical treatment, surgeries, and care for individuals with various health conditions. Hospitals play a role in emergency care, diagnostics, and ongoing medical treatment.

  • Human Immunodeficiency Virus

    Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), is a virus that attacks the immune system, potentially leading to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). HIV is primarily transmitted through unprotected sexual contact, sharing of needles, or during childbirth or breastfeeding.

  • Hurricanes

    Powerful tropical cyclones characterized by strong winds and heavy rainfall. They can cause significant damage to infrastructure, lead to flooding, and pose risks to safety.

  • Hydration

  • Hypertension

    Also called high blood pressure, hypertension occurs when the force of blood against your blood vessel walls is too strong, making your heart work harder. Often without symptoms, it can lead to serious health problems like heart attacks, strokes, and kidney disease over time.

  • Hyperthermia

    Occurs when the body overheats and cannot cool down due to hot weather, high humidity, or overexertion. Hyperthermia can cause symptoms like sweating, fast breathing, and muscle cramps. It may lead to serious conditions like heat exhaustion or heat stroke if not addressed.

  • Hypotension

    Also called low blood pressure, hypotension occurs when blood flow is reduced. It can signal an underlying issue if it happens suddenly or it the flow is too weak to reach vital organs with symptoms occuring such as dizziness, fainting, or fatigue.

  • Hypothalamus

    Located in the brain just below the thalamus and above the brainstem, the hypothalamus helps regulate essential body functions, including body temperature, hunger, thirst, sleep, emotions, and hormone production. The hypothalamus also controls the pituitary gland, connecting the nervous system to the endocrine system.

  • Hypothermia

    Occurs when the body loses heat faster than it can produce it, resulting in dangerously low body temperature. Hypothermia can lead to serious health issues and requires prompt intervention.
