    A spectrum of gender identities, expressions, and experiences exist. Recognizing that there is a distinction between gender and biological sex contributes to understanding that there is a variety of nuances in human development throughout the lifespan.

    Gender affirming care is a range of health services that provide individuals with the right to make decisions about their own bodies and healthcare, respecting the dignity and self-identified gender of each person.

  • Gender Expression

    The way individuals express their gender identity, which may or may not align with traditional social expectations. Respecting individuals’ choices in how they choose to express themselves contributes to healthier communities and societies.

  • Genes

    Segments of DNA that carry instructions for the synthesis of proteins and determine an individual's traits. They are passed from parent to offspring during reproduction.

  • Genital Candidiasis

    Commonly known as a yeast infection, genital candidiases is a fungal infection that affects the genital area. It can lead to symptoms such as itching, redness, and discomfort.

  • Genital Herpes

    A sexually transmitted infection (STI/STD) caused by the herpes simplex virus. Genital herpes can result in genital sores, pain, and other symptoms.

  • Genital Warts

    Growths caused by certain strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV). Genital warts can appear on the genital and anal areas and may cause discomfort.

  • Germs

    Microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and fungi, that can cause infections and diseases. Germs can spread through direct contact, airborne particles, or contaminated surfaces.

  • Gland

    An organ or structure that produces and releases substances, such as hormones or enzymes, for specific functions in the body. Glands play a role in regulating various physiological processes and maintaining homeostasis.

  • Glans

    The sensitive, rounded tip of the penis or the clitoris. Glans are highly innervated and sensitive to stimulation.

  • Gonorrhea

    A sexually transmitted infection (STI/STD) caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Gonorrhea commonly infects the genital tract, but it can also affect other mucous membranes, including the rectum, throat, and eyes.

  • Ground Truth

    Refers to information or data collected firsthand through direct observation or measurement. Ground truth is used to validate or verify other sources of information, ensuring accuracy and reliability.

  • Growth and Development

    Refers to the physical, cognitive, and emotional changes that individuals undergo throughout their lifespan. Growth and development differs between individuals and addresses the diverse needs of individuals at different life stages.

  • Growth Mindset

    The belief that abilities and intelligence can be developed through effort, learning, and perseverance. Growth mindset contrasts with a fixed mindset that sees traits as inherent and unchangeable. Cultivating a growth mindset promotes resilience and a willingness to embrace challenges.
